Death of a Friend

Death of a Friend

I’d never tried so hard to win a fight
and then to just find myself so lost.
I became your greatest challenge
you became my albatross
weighing me down, still, now.

Am I the only one who can recall the way you fought
the rage, the zeal, the hate.
Though others come and go
I’m still here alone.
It seems that you will never be replaced.

Death of one not unlike a friend.

No time’s ever the last time.
No fight’s ever the last fight.
The passion’s always there but I don’t really care.
You and I were orbiting,
me and my worst enemy;
there’s nowhere left to go but toward gravity.
