Unavenged

UNAVENGED

Half jumped by Mr. Death
calmly enjoying his last breath
the Immortal Tzar Koschei makes a deal

Not alive but not quite dead
conversation is in his head
His end marks the beginning
of his vengeful return

The Hidden soul of Koshei stays
in a needle, in an egg, in an avian frame
But the duck’s in the belly of a magic hare
buried in a chest on Buyan fair
There beneath a great oak tree
lies the soul of Koschei

Koschei springs up from the barrow
spreading death, confusion, and sorrow
with a club made of Iron
and a horse from the north

With an axe he chops up the dead
those who starved him and took off his head
Takes the wife of his captor
and makes her his own

The Hidden soul of Koshei stays
in a needle, in an egg, in an avian frame
But the duck’s in the belly of a magic hare
buried in a chest on Buyan fair
There beneath a great oak tree
lies the soul of Koschei…

I’m sure you’ve heard it before:
“Fight evil and settle the score”
but he just can’t be stopped by conventional means

None know what Koschei intends
This can’t just go unavenged
and so we travel
and search for the soul

The Hidden soul of Koshei stays
in a needle, in an egg, in an avian frame
But the duck’s in the belly of a magic hare
buried in a chest on Buyan fair
There beneath a great oak tree
lies the soul of Koschei
